What this site is
A practical guide to checking a private doctor in the UK: what the registers show, what the titles mean, what private care costs, and what to ask before paying.
It exists because the information needed to check a doctor is free and public, and almost nobody uses it.
What it is not
Not a clinic. No medical care is provided here, no appointments are taken and no treatment is offered.
Not a directory. No doctors are listed. If listings are added in future, the verification standard is published in advance on the page for doctors.
Not connected to Harley Street. There is no relationship with any practice, clinic or consulting room provider on Harley Street or in the surrounding area. The domain name describes the subject, not an address.
Not medical advice. Nothing here is advice about your own health or treatment. For that, see a doctor — ideally one you have checked.
Who publishes it
Dr Sudheer Sulaiman, a consultant psychiatrist.
| GMC number | 5194872 |
| Specialist Register | General psychiatry, since 9 September 2011 |
This site tells you to check a doctor’s registration rather than take their word for it, so the number above is published to be checked. Put it into the General Medical Council’s register and you should find the entry described here. How to do that is the first page on this site.
Dr Sulaiman runs Happy Clinic, a private online psychiatry service for adults in the UK.
That is a commercial interest in private healthcare, and it should be weighed when reading a site about how to assess private healthcare. It is stated here rather than left to be discovered.
What follows from it in practice:
- No doctor, clinic or service is recommended anywhere on this site
- No payment is taken from any practitioner or clinic for coverage or mention
- No affiliate links or commissions
- The author’s own service is not promoted here, and there are no booking links
If that changes — if listings open, or any paid placement is introduced — it will be disclosed on the page where it appears, not only in the terms.
How pages are written
Sourced where it matters. Factual claims about registration, regulation and history are drawn from the regulators themselves and from published reference sources, listed at the foot of each page.
No invented numbers. No statistics, waiting times, prices or case studies are made up. Figures carry the date they were checked.
Dated. Each page shows when it was last updated. Registration rules and costs change.
No testimonials, no case studies, no reviews. The site makes no claims about individual practitioners at all.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, out of date or unclear, it will be corrected. Email hello@harleystreetdoctorsonline.com.
Concerns about a doctor’s conduct belong with the General Medical Council, and concerns about a clinic in England with the Care Quality Commission. Both accept complaints from the public directly.
